The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Trainee Programme at Transnet Corporate Centre offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain practical workplace experience in Saldanha, Western Cape. This 12-month programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, enhancing employability through hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to industry-specific tasks. Reporting to the Senior Specialist: Youth Development, trainees will participate in projects, operational tasks, and administrative functions while developing problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills. The programme emphasizes compliance, safety, and professional standards, preparing learners to contribute effectively within a corporate environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in specific projects within a department or work-stream
• Perform routine operational tasks under supervision
• Support administrative functions, including documentation and reporting
• Participate in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programs
• Shadow experienced professionals to gain practical insights
• Engage in problem-solving activities to develop analytical skills
• Interact with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to understand business needs
• Provide regular updates on assigned tasks and project progress
• Serve as a central contact point for queries and assistance
• Conduct market research, data collection, and analysis to support business decisions
• Prepare reports and presentations using MS Office tools
• Assist in process improvement initiatives
• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
• Ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all tasks

Qualifications

• Matric certificate
• S4–S5 completed theoretical coursework in Electronics, Electrical (Heavy Current), or Mechanical disciplines
• Must be a South African citizen
• Age between 18–35
• Preference will be given to People with Disability
• No bursary obligation with another company
• Proof of confirmation or letter from the institution (most recent)
• Certified copies of Matric certificate, Academic Record, and ID
